Absolutely! All treatments are tailored to suit your needs and if Acupuncture is appropriate for you and your main complaint, you can enjoy the benefits of both. Most treatments incorporate a wide range of modalities and can yield great results. Feel free to ask any questions prior to booking.
Sarah is a qualified and licence Acupuncturist and will take great care to work with your comfort for all treatments and modalities. Generally, Acupuncture is not painful, the single use/sterile Acupuncture needles are very fine and flexible and are inserted with techniques to minimise any pain. You may feel a sensation of warmth or very dull ache when the Acupuncture point is treated. These techniques are different to dry needling techniques.
Acupuncture training and techniques are based on Traditional and Modern East Asian Medicines to treat the whole person and the main complaint. We can treat soft tissue injuries as well as a range of other health complaints at the same time. The training, techniques and desired outcomes differ greatly between Acupuncture and Dry Needling.
This can vary, depending on how chronic your condition is, the type of condition and where your body is at. Everyone responds differently to treatments and depending on other lifestyle factors involved, you may get an immediate response or take a little longer to notice significant changes. Generally it is advisable to have 3 treatments to allow for a thorough health assessment, treatment and follow up on the main complaint. Treatments are provided with the initial consultation to get you started on your healing unless there is a contraindication.
Generally, make sure you have eaten a meal and had suffiencient fluids throughout the day, prior to your treatment. After your treatment, you might find yourself quite relaxed! Allow some time to bring yourself back into the moment and carry on with your day. Drinking adequate fluids throughout the day and avoiding any stimulants such as alcohol and coffee after your treatment is advisable.
Loose fitting clothing or comfortable clothing is a great option. Some treatments we may only need access to the hands, legs, or feet, others may require treatment to your back or abdomen. Adequate draping is always carried out and if you're not comfortable with torso treatments, we can always work with that and stick to more distal points on the arms and legs. If you have any reports for your current health condition such as GP reports and diagnosis, medication lists, xray reports etc that you may have to assist in a formulating a comprehensive treatment plan, please bring them along to your appointment.
